I can’t tell you how many times I have seen great people give up after very weak attempts at their business. If people really knew what it took, I mean REALLY, perhaps they would think twice! I am going to be brutally frank here, and might even risk ruffling some feathers. We have been at this a very, very long time. We have seen people come, and we have seen people go. We have participated in the success of people who have gone from nothing to multiple six figure income earners, and there is nothing more rewarding than to watch that kind of growth. Sticking with it and building an income in mlm can be a truly rewarding experience.
On the flip side, we have seen struggle, and that is painful to watch when you care for people. No matter how you slice it, as Jim Rohn used to say “Everyone has to pay their $10 at the door”, no exceptions. What’s interesting is that some people accept it, hunker down, with a do-whatever-it-takes attitude. Others have a “try it” attitude. You know the ones, who come to you and say “I tried it, and it just didn’t work for me”. There is a large percentage of people who are somewhere in the middle. They are willing to do whatever it takes, as long as it is on their terms.
When folks come to us and say “it”s just not working”..I always ask them “How many people have you talked to this week?” The hard cold facts are always the facts. They are sobering, but nonetheless, the reason, the bottomline most of the time as to why business is slow. Another Jim Rohn ism is…”The more people you talk to, the more decisions you will collect, and some of them can’t help but be yes if you are talking to enough people”.
WHY do people talk to so few people? THAT is the bigger question!! The article below will enlighten you. Mark Yarnell is one of the founding fathers in our great industry. Whew…what a whirlwind it has been researching, watching, building, blogging, facebooking, tweeting etc, all the while “being self taught” by this wonderful medium, The Worldwide Web!! Wow, I am amazed at the knowledge I have amassed over the past 3 years, yet still feel very much a student. We used to say “Is this going to bring some return?…(in the early days) and then the leads began to drip in, and the relationships were built and vice versa!. People joined our teams. This stuff was actually working!
